ZunePrep v2 is a program for Windows XP (compiled batch file) which automates the steps necessary to correct the 0x80070643 error during Zune installation. In most cases where the software fails to install with this error it is due to your user environment and OS not being in the expected state. This version of ZunePrep is for Windows XP only and corrects situations as seen in the error message below:

Installation Failed

Setup must stop because the required package 'Zune' failed to install.
Operation 'InstallDriver' has finished with result 0x80070643
Operation 'RemoveDriver' has finished with result 0x80004005
DIFXAPP: Rollback failed with error 0x2

Error Code: 0x80070643

ZunePrep will put your user environment into the proper state for installation of Zune by resetting some registry key permissions, re-registering some system dlls and removing WDF related files that interfere with the proper installation of the Zune software - that is all ZunePrep does.
